A huge crowd assembled at The Pedigree Sales Arena, MOIRA , Co.Down last Saturday 19th November for the major reduction sale from Ms Clandeboye Estate’s renowned CLANDEBOYE herd of pedigree Holsteins & Jerseys.

The overall quality of stock presented was very impressive and this combined with deep pedigrees and great cow families resulted in a very fast trade.

Topping the sale at 7,000gns was Clandeboye Bolton Rosina a fresh calved Sandy-Valley Bolton heifer with a superb udder. Rosina is bred from 8 gens VG/EX dams from the famous Canadian Templedale Rosina cow family. She joins the Millars herd of Ms Cyril & Martin Millar, Coleraine. The same buyers also claimed the 2nd highest price calved heifer paying 5,800gns for Clandeboye Duplex P Willow, a Mesland Duplex daughter of the third generation (EX) cow Clandeboye Willow Pat (EX91-2E) LP50.

Holstein bulling heifers sold to 3,700gns for Clandeboye Bolton Rosina 2. This heifer is a full sister to the sale topping 7,000gn heifer. She joins the Ards herd of Ms Harry Patton & Sons, Newtownards.

Holstein bulls sold to 3,100gns for the 3Yr old Bull Killane Fleetwood. This To-Mar Fortune son is bred from 4 generations (EX-USA) cows from the Penn-Gate Finesse family and was claimed by a Co. Monaghan breeder.

Holstein heifer calves at foot sold to 850gns for a daughter of Killane Fleetwood.

JERSEYS

The trade for Clandeboye’s Jerseys was very fast with 2 animals selling to 3,000gns. Clandeboye CR Evita an outstanding fresh calved heifer was claimed by a Co.Down breeder. Her dam Clandeboye Jazz Evita (VG88) had placed 2nd in class to the Breed Champion at last year’s RUAS Winter Fair. Also selling for 3,000gns was the show winning Clandeboye Vindication Marbel. This July 2010 maiden heifer is a Vindication daughter and is backed by 6 gens VG/EX dams. She was purchased by Stephen Booth, Co.Tyrone. A feature of the Jersey trade was the interest shown by  customers from the Republic of Ireland.  Some 14 of the 29 Jersey lots sold were purchased for export to the Republic of Ireland.
