The final sale of 2011 for the Border & Lakeland Holstein Club was a total success with a complete clearance and an impressive average of £2123. 75% of the sale sold for £2000 and above to reach a top of 2,600gns twice.

The show was judged by local breeder Willie Fleming from the Hillhead herd in Kirkpatrick Fleming, his Champion was the first place senior heifer consigned by DI & FM Cannon from the Espland herd.  This classy Final Cut heifer with a close to perfect udder sold for 2,600gns to N&SJ Sanderson, Lanercost, Brampton.  Judge Fleming’s Reserve Champion was consigned from the same home, placing second in the same class.  She was sired by Talent from a high producing line of cows and sold for 2,400gns and was bought by the Hewson Bros, Blackford, Carlisle.

Selling for a joint top of 2,600gns was a silky black Durham Ross daughter consigned by the Wilson family from Skirwith Hall Farms.  This young heifer was potentially the seventh generation of Excellent or Very Good cows in the pedigree.  Topping a super consignment of four heifers from the Boclair herd of Mr D Brewster was a big strong heifer sired by Boclair Taz selling for 2,550gns. Both of these heifers completed a wonderful days buying for the Sandersons at Lanercost, Brampton.
