It is often stated the two most important ingredients required to create a successful sale is great cattle and a poplar well liked owner.  John Greenop can check both boxes on these two points as friends old and new came in strength to support a man whose passion for both breeding & farming has never dwindled throughout the years.  The sale ring at Borderway was filled to capacity with one of the largest crowds seen for some time, buyers from England, Scotland, Wales, N. Ireland and Republic of Ireland took part resulting in Bridgedale animals being dispersed to fifteen counties throughout the UK & Ireland.

A top price of 5,000gns was achieved twice during the sale firstly for Bridgedale Ethel 81 VG89.  A beautiful young cow sired by Wilcoxview Jasper completing eight generations of Excellent or Very Goods.  It was the last lot of the sale and the youngest member of the Bridgedale herd that equalled the top price.  Bridgedale Marie sired by Pine-Tree Sid and a daughter of Denmire Gibson Marie 22 EX94, currently the pedigree reads four EX94 dams with over 400 tons of milk produced lifetime.  This classy four week old calf is now housed at DF Forsyth, Baltier, Newton Stewart.

Selling for 4,800gns was Bridgedale Ethel VG89 who now joins the herd of JC Swainson, How End Farm, Thursby, Carlisle.  Almost a carbon copy of the top price and sired again by type leader Wilcoxview Jasper, she oozed style and is due in September to Gillette Stanleycup.

Bridgedale Lana EX92 sold for 4,000gns to an undisclosed buyer.  She was a powerful cow freshly calved and sired by Avenham Westminster.  Her dam was an EX93 Morty bred from one of the outstanding lines of the Comestar Lauire Sheik family.  Her four week old Gold Chip (one of the first by this sire to sell in the UK) sold for 1,200gns to A Bunting & Son, Midtown Farm, Dumfries.  Mr Bunting also purchased Bridgedale Anna 11 GP82 for 3,800gns.  Anna 11 was sired by Comestar Outside, from a Boulet Charles dam who is sister to Almond Silky Avis EX94 who won the Royal Highland in 2007.  Due with her second in September to Gillette Stanleycup this young cow has unlimited potential both in the show ring and as prolific transmitter.

An EX94 Talent sister to the previous mentioned Outside sold for 2,900gns, she was a tremendous Red cow with an incredible frame and carried a pregnancy to Gillette Stanleycup due at the end of the year.  Her daughter by Sterndale Rose Royce Red was scored VG86 2yr and had just completed an impressive first lactation with high components.  She sold for 3,800gns with both animals now joining the impressive herd of CSA Brassington & Son, Newfarm, Roden, Shropshire.
