Following the success of their first young-stock sale in 2011 the Lawson family decided to offer another mouth watering consignment of young calves from their prize winning British Friesian & Dairy Shorthorn herds. The Lismulligan prefix is now one of the leading British Friesian herds in the British Isles renowned for breeding top sires for both the AI and herd sire industry. Following their recent Championship awards at both the Dairy Event in 2011 and UK Dairy Expo in 2012 it was no surprise that these exciting young animals were dispersed across the length and breadth of the UK and Ireland.
Topping the sale was one of the young stars from the Dairy Shorthorns, Lisnamulligan Fairy 13 an April born heifer sired by Meadowhavne Prides Star from three generations of EX or VG’s. She placed 3rd at UK Dairy Expo back in the Spring and has developed since then into an outstanding individual that can now justify a change of colour the next time the rosettes are handed out. She was purchased by one of the UK top show herds R&E Butterfield, Linghaw Farm, Bentham for 1,700gns.
Lismulligan Empress 33 certainly attracted most of the interest when it came to the British Friesian genetics. She was sired by Lismulligan Lancelot her dam was the much admired Lismulligan Empress 19 EX93 4E who recently calved with her 9th calve. This amazing longevity is a trade mark of the herd and one of the main reasons the Lawsons can sell so many animals year on year. Empress 33 was sold for 1,420gns and crosses the Irish sea to join the herd of PJ & M McVerry, Belleeks, Co, Down.
Mr McVerry purchased a number of top quality heifers to complement the impressive Empress heifer and one that also dazzled was Lismulligan Eileen 34. She was sired by Lismulligan Gambler bred from two VG dams with very high butterfat and protein and was sold for 1,280gns.
A volume buyer with firsthand knowledge of how successful Lismulligan animals can perform was WH Dixon, Walterston Farm, Hayscastle, Haverfordwest. He filled his truck with many beautiful heifers the best being Lismulligan Renne 98 an daughter of Catlane Challenger selling for 1,250gns.
Also selling for 1,250gns was Lismulligan Whitetail 3 sired by Lismulligan Gambler and bred from the famous Amber Whitetail 16 EX91 who produced over 9,000kgs in her tenth year. The dam of this heifer was first heifer in milk and Reserve Champion at the Royal Highland in 2011. She was purchased by J Gatherer, Hill of Ochiltree, Ayrshire.
The Lawson family would like to wish everyone many successes with their purchases and look forward to seeing everyone in September at the Bull Sales when once again a number of outstanding young sires will go on offer.
