The Western Holstein Club’s newly re-branded sale of fresh calved cows and heifers under the title FOCUS MILK attracted an entry of 59 Cows and Milking Heifers for their September Show and Sale. Judge for the day was Richard Edge of the Middlewich based Wimboldsley herd. He awarded his Champion to Shanael Dictator Amy (VG87-3yr), a fresh third calf daughter of Overside Dictator from Steve Miller of Evesham, Worcestershire. The Reserve Championship was awarded to the 1st prize Junior heifer, Ryisle Knowledge Margaret 142nd from Matt Isles of Greenhalgh, Preston.

Trade was good for the cows and the best heifers but more selective for the second quality heifers. Top price was 2700 gns which was achieved on two occasions; the first at this price was the 2nd prize Junior Heifer, Enchanted Buckeye Monogram from Enchanted Holsteins of Preston. This heifer by R-E-W Buckeye traces back to the Avondale Monogram family and her dam was a 3000 gns Champion at Beeston when she calved as a heifer. She was purchased by G & MM Davies of the Rhydygors Herd, Carmarthen and they also acquired the other heifer at this price, the Reserve Champion from Matt Isles. Messrs Davies also purchased the top price cow, the Champion animal at 2500 gns; this cow has had two previous lactations of 12000 and 14000 kg and was sold giving 56 kg daily with her third.

Two heifers sold for 2600 gns each; the first at this price was the very well bred Butlersarms Goldwyn Becky 33rd ET from DB Kippax & Sons, Preston which sold giving 35 kg daily to the Trebersed Farm Partnership, Carmarthen, whilst the other was the leading lot from Ray Brown & Partners, Holmes Chapel, Bidlea Spider Papoose which sold to DE & MR Davies, Llanymynech, Powys.
