Record Entry and Purchasers at SAC February Sale

Auctioneers Greenslade Taylor Hunt report an exceptional entry of 240 head for the February Collective Sale at Sedgemoor Auction Centre, a 100 up on last year’s entry, with 20 over £2000. There were 53 successful purchasers from Cornwall to Wales ensuring the continuing success of the monthly sales.

The day topped at 2400gns for RT Cox’s fresh heifer ‘Holmead Talent Pocohontis’ from 10 generations of Ex and VG dams and at 2200gns was the well-bred ‘Holmead Toystory Blackrose ET’.  At 2150gns was Ian Dimonds heifer ‘Dorset Ladys Beauty’, he also produced the days top price cow at 2100gns for the second calver ‘Dorset Samuelo Helena’ The two cows and four heifers from ‘Dorset’ produced the day’s top consignment average of £2109.

The heifer ‘Wortwell Alfie Milly 2nd’ from Nick Goss sold to 2150gns. Other Vendors with heifers over 2000gns included RE & HE Bugler ‘Bettiscombe’, DC Dennis and Son ‘Dinnaton’, A & JE Fewings ‘Keevil’ and JC Palmer ‘Sherdon’. Other collective cows sold to 2020gns for ‘Bettiscombe Talent Jenny’ and 2000gns for ‘Bettiscombe Phil Linnet’ both second calvers from Roland and Simon Bugler.

Incalf heifers topped at 1850gns for ‘Hinton Million Carol’ from RD Horton and Son due April to the ‘Vortex Dekko’ bull.

The day included a consignment of the dispersal of the ‘Sampfordel’ Herd for LWR & KA Hill with the October calved heifer due again in September selling for 2000gns. Other autumn calved heifers sold to 1700gns x 2 and 1680gns x 2.

The commercial youngstock dispersal for FA, LG & JF Williams produced served heifers to 1000gns x 6, yearlings to 720gns and heifer calves to 480gns.
