‘Rolestone’ Holsteins to 2000gns at SAC

Auctioneers Greenslade Taylor Hunt welcomed the ‘Rolestone’ Sale for Messrs Oliver and Vokes from Cornwall to Sedgemoor Auction Centre on Tuesday 12th March. Lack of fodder and the prolonged winter tested the trade for the cows and heifers sold. However despite the sub-zero temperatures that kept the spectators away, those that did attend ensured another very good trade for all types. Only the real top end were harder to place as purchasers look for more commercial heavy milking cows.

Fresh milk again sold to a premium with ‘Rolestone Jayz Raylette 8th’ GP84 freshly calved to her second selling for 2000gns. The Ex90 third calver by the homebred bull ‘Rolestone Outside Fortune’ sold for 1950gns.

Autumn calved heifers due again next autumn sold to 1800gns for ‘Rolestone Saudan May 144th’ GP82 and 1750gns for ‘Rolestone Shottle Dewdrop 4th’ GP81. Heifers 5 months incalf by Savage-Leigh- Lucius ET sold for 1300gns.

Well-bred heifer calves by’ Pine-Tree-Sid ET’ and ‘Ralma-RH Trumpet’ sold to 540gns.

Purchasers from Cornwall to Shropshire made the most of the accessibility of Sedgemoor Auction Centre being at Junction 24 of the M5 to generate the following excellent averages:

Dairy Cows and Heifers (Inc ‘A’ Lots)

£1488.00

Incalf/ Served Heifers
