Milk in demand at SAC Multi-breed sale

Auctioneers Greenslade Taylor Hunt report a strong demand for milk at Sedgemoor Auction Centre’s monthly dairy sale. The collective Holstein milk sold to 2300gns for the calved heifer ‘Bettiscombe Shottle Eden 2nd’ from Roland and Simon Bugler whose consignment of 10 cows and heifers averaged £2039. At 2200gns was Rickard & Webbers 2½ year old calved heifer ‘Hollysprings Marios Mars Bounty Polled’. Other calved heifers over 2000gns were non pedigree 34kgs heifers from Miss R Robertson and ‘Poynings H Zebedee Caroline’ from Nick Goss. Cows were in short supply selling to 2050gns for the 2nd calver ‘Bettiscombe Knowledge Dagmar 117th’.

Incalf Holstein heifers consigned by RJ Willcox sold to 1720gns for ‘Lilylane Outside Marion 2nd’ due July to the Aberdeen Angus Bull. May 2012 born heifers from RT Cox sold to 800gns for ‘Withy Armstead Lucy’ and ‘Withy Armstead Rachel’.

From the Multi-breed section Montbeliarde X calved heifers sold to 1600gns from KJ Waldon & Partners and Montbeliarde calved cows to 1500gns for MF & AM Jones, Jersey calved cows to 1400gns for RH Webb and Shorthorn calved heifers to 1380gns for the same vendor. The Jersey breed was in strong demand with calved Jersey cross bred heifers selling 1080gns for the dispersal of KE & SJ Mew from the Isle of Wight. Incalf Holstein X Jersey heifers from RJ Willcox sold to 1130gns.

Pedigree Jersey incalf heifers due August sold to 980gns for ‘Hollesley Isle of Man’ from R & J Mann and served heifers due November to 840gns for ‘Berkeley Carol 12th’ from WJ Weatherill. Incalf British Friesian and Jersey X heifers from DH & C Bennett sold to 1300gns to average £1122 and served heifers due December to 920gns.

Dispersal sale incalf heifers from A & P Bradford sold to 1650gns for a red and white ‘Hookwood Delta Scooter’ daughter and averaged £1323.50.
