Last Friday 28th June saw the first dairy cattle being sold in Llandovery Market, Carmarthenshire for over 50 years with prices peaking at 2,600gns and 10 cattle selling at more than £2,000.

The decision by Gareth and Anne Jones of Creuddyn Bridge, Felinfach, Lampeter, Ceredigion, to move their herd to the excellent facilities at Llandovery Market was very well rewarded with the joint auctioneers Gwilym Richards & Co and Clee Tompkinson Francis working together to attract buyers from throughout South and Mid Wales and the bordering English counties.

There was standing room only around the sale ring when the first lot sold for 2,100gns setting the tempo for a highly successful day’s trading.
