JOMARAS HOLSTEINS TO 2,400GNS

 

The dispersal sale of the Jomaras herd of pedigree Holsteins on behalf of Joe and Nicholas Layton took place at Hampton Bishop, Hereford, on Friday 5th July 2013.

 

There was a very good trade for the milking section with prices peaking at 2,400gns.

 

The top price was for a 2nd calver by Ked Outside Jeeves which had recorded 8,642kgs as a heifer and had calved again 6 weeks ago and giving 41.3kgs daily. She was one of 20 cattle purchased by Stowell Farms of Marlborough, Wiltshire.

 

They also bought a 3rd calver by Wortwell Freddie for 2,300gns. She had calved 2 months before the sale and giving 35.4kgs daily. As a 2nd calver, she gave 8,830kgs.

 

Amos Partners of Ross-on-Wye, Herefordshire, gave 2,100gns for a freshly calved 2nd calver by Jomaras Tempest. She had given 8,125kgs as a heifer.

 

Served heifers sold to 1,550gns and heifer calves to 600gns.

 

Averages:

 

118 milking cows and heifers £1,330.30 (including 25 heifer calves @ £441.42)

24 three quartered/light cows £797.56

48 served heifers £921.38

34 maiden heifers and calves £469.72

1 bull £903.00

225 lots £1,054.29
