ESSEX HOLSTEIN HERD DISPERSES AT BEESTON ON A GREAT TRADE!

 

The Dispersal of the mostly pedigree Littletawney Herd of Holstein Dairy cattle, the property of R Padfield and Son, Little Tawney Hall, Stapleford Abbots, Romford, Essex took place at Beeston Castle Auction on Friday, 5th July in front of a useful company of buyers especially from the north who were particularly attracted to the sale as the herd resided in a 4yr TB parish despite the fact that they were loose housed.

 

The herd followed an all year round calving pattern, fed a semi-TMR diet based on grass and maize and achieved a rolling herd average of 8250 kg 3.57% butterfat 3.07% protein.

 

The top price was £2020 for the fresh second calf cow, Walnor H20, a daughter of Denmire Recharge who had given 7294 kg as a heifer. She sold to Done and Hampson of Worthenbury, Nr. Wrexham. Selling for £2000 was the Robthom Moscow daughter Littletawney Moscow Lady 2nd who is due in September to Nethanvale Mel and who was the choice of BH Holt & Sons of Bradley, Stafford. The third top seller was Frazernash Bolton Grey, second calf daughter of Sandy Valley Bolton, who freshened in early April and was old giving 44 kg to local buyers SEA Aidley & Co., of Tarporley, Cheshire.

 

The served heifers who had all been served in the last eight weeks sold up to £1120 for a daughter of Wa-Del Junction, the maiden heifers were keenly sought and rose to £1000 for a daughter of Shottle and the calves at foot which were a very smart group made up to £730 also for a Shottle daughter.

Heifers £860.00; 26 Maiden Heifers £682.31; 122 HEAD £1224.67.
