Pedigree Technicolour Dairy Show & Sale on Friday 27th September

Lawrie & Symington Ltd held their 3rd Pedigree Technicolour Dairy Show & Sale on Friday 27th September. An increase in both numbers and quality resulted in a rise of overall averages with heifer’s in-milk averaging 2000gns and selling to a top price of 2800gns.

This was Balcurvie Iota Hazel 2, a heifer in-milk from M. & G. Struthers, Bankhead farm, Windygates, Fife by Regentcrest Alta Iota She Jans the herd of R. Denholm & Son, West Lochdrum farm, Bonnybridge. The pre-sale show judge Mr Euan Lawrie, Grangehall farm, Pettinain backed his decision by purchasing the overall Champion Letterkenny Ross Papoose for 2700gns. A daughter of Plain o Durham Ross and Out of Petteril Integrity Papoose Ex91 (7yrs), She was consigned by the Hunter Familym West Tarbrax farm, Shotts. The same herd produced the next top at 2280gns, This was for Letterkenny London Boots out of homebred EX91 cow. She was purchased by the Firm of A. Cochran, Nether Craig farm, Kilmarnock.

J Adamson & Son, Swaites Farm, Pettinain produced the Champion Ayrshire Swaites Brown Cold with homebred breeding on both sides. She sold at 1920gns to A. G. Dunlop & Son, Bridgend farm, Ayr. Included in the sale were stock in-calf heifers from Usan Estate, Montrose who led at 1580gns with Usan Torchlight 218 by Moet Melody. She sold to D. & J. MacKay, 10 Moy Holdings, Campbeltown.

Averages: 23 heifers in-milk @2000gns, 7 cows in-milk @ 1140gns, 18 in-calf heifers @ 1364.44gns
