Dinnaton top SAC November Collective at 2450gns

Auctioneers Greenslade Taylor Hunt report a continued strong trade for fresh milk with 12 over £2000 to include a commercial Guernsey from RH Mabbett’s dispersal.

From the collective section Derek and Jeremy Dennis’s return to Sedgemoor Auction Centre was rewarded with the days top price of 2450gns for ‘Dinnaton Jordan Jorvick Bluebell’ calved in October giving 36 kgs. The two heifers from CJ Elmes’s Swallowdale herd in Wiltshire both by ‘Pursuit September Storm’ from the ‘Bluebell’ and ‘Violet’ families both sold for 2300gns. At 2200gns was ‘Walkabout Rick Blackrose’ one of 6 consigned by E Gay & Sons to average £2035. Other heifers over 2000gns were from RK & SG Miller & Sons, AJ Bennett & Sons and Longmoor Farm Partners.

Cows sold to 2300gns for DJ & VM Norman’s ‘Ciderhouse Frontrunner Rosalind GP84’ a 2nd calver from 4 generations of VG or Ex.

Incalf heifers from RJ Willcox due December to the Angus sold for 1580gns. Holstein maiden heifers 12-16 months old sold to 740gns for daughters of ‘Vortex Poser’ and ‘Custismill Andriod’ from the ‘Godney’ herd of TR Horsington & Son.

The sale included the commercial Guernsey dispersal for RH Mabbett which drew interest from across the West and Wales with milk in strongest demand. The 30 topped at 1950gns for the September calved 2nd lactation ‘Tredinney Yogis Andante’ daughter. The 5th lactation October calver by ‘Shalford Pacific’ sold for 1580gns.

Cross bred incalf heifers from C & J Raymond & Sons due next spring sold to 860gns for daughters of ‘Whinlea San Supersonic’. Jersey incalf heifers also due in the spring from the same stable sold to 670gns for a daughter of ‘Upgate Impuls Shortbread’. Jersey bulling heifers by ‘RJF Big Show’ sold to 550gns.
