FOCUS MILK SALE TO 2250 GNS AT BEESTON
The
Western Holstein Club’s Opening Show and Sale at Beeston Castle Auction got the
year off to a
reasonable
start for the New Year. Stephen Sherratt of the Creamfields herd acted as judge
and for
his
Champion he selected the fresh second calf cow, Bidlea Tagshot Betty (GP81-2yr) as his
Champion.
She was sired by the homebred Shottle son, Bidlea Tagshot. In reserve was the
heifer
Sandley
Carol 43rd by Bilsrow Superman from George Sanderson and Family of Preston.
The
quality forward for sale was very decent but there were no real stars either in
the flesh or on
paper.
Although there was as good a crowd there as there has been for a few months it
did not
transfer
into bidding and consequently trade was surprisingly quite selective and as a
result a
handful
were not sold.
Top
price was 2250 gns which was achieved for the Champion. She was sold giving 40
kg and was
the
choice of JR Beattie of Stourbridge. Worcester. The top price heifer was
Pepperstock Sam
Jeanne
a daughter of Mr. Sam from Speirs Farms Ltd. of Luton, Bedfordshire also
selling to Mr.
Beattie
for 2150 gns. Speirs Farms also sold their Pepperstock Shottle Beattie for 2000
gns to
Messrs
Ryley of Hodnet. The only other heifer to break the 2000 gns mark Hawksmoor
Topee 83rd
from
Rob Clare of Adderley, Market Drayton by a homebred son of Durham Ross selling
for 2050
gns to
Norman Tomkinon, Gnosall.
