MOORSHARD BREEDING TO 2500GNS AT SAC

The annual February Collective Sale drew a large crowd from across the West and Wales generating a strong demand across the board.

From the milk section the cows were in strongest demand selling to 2500gns for the 2nd lactation ‘Moorshard Outbound Amanda’ from RK & SG Miller & Sons. At 2350gns was the VG85 ‘Beneknowle Bolivia Governess 20th’ that had calved to her second and was consigned by PJ Andrews. DJ & VM Norman’s ‘Ciderhouse Dictator Seaspray 4th GP80’ sold for 2280gns and AJ Bennett & Sons 3rd calver ‘Lilylane Wildman Seaspray 40th VG85’ for 2150gns as did DC Dennis & Sons ‘Dinnaton Jordan Buck Bluebell’

Calved heifers from Dimond Farming Ltd ‘Dorset Scooby Darling’ and Nick Goss with ‘Idenpark Doge Dora’ sold to 2150gns.

Ray Darby’s decision to disperse his non-recorded British Friesian herd as they calve was well rewarded with the first 15 cows to be sold topping at 2020gns for a 2nd calver by ‘Dayton’ and a heifer by ‘Windbreaker’. 5th calvers sold to 1680gns, 6th calvers to 1420gns and 7th calvers topped at 1600gns.

A consignment of 12 freshly calved British Frisian heifers from HG Tincknell Ltd sold to 1780gns for a ‘Nerewater Jupiter’ daughter.

A strong demand for bulls saw ‘Sherdon Delboy’ by ‘Bassingthorpe Bossman’ from JC Palmer born in September 2012 selling for 2020gns and ‘Davlea Ravish’ by ‘Pine-Tree Sid’ from BL Davies & Son to 1900gns.

Incalf heifers sold to 1620gns for ‘Ganbrook Tangent Molly 47th’ due February to the Hereford from Messrs Daniell & Hole.

The shortage of youngstock and good quality stock produced an excellent trade for LWR & KA Hill’s 17 month old bulling heifers from their ‘Sampfordel’ herd selling to 1000gns on four occasions for daughters of ‘Ked Outside Jeeves’ and ‘Wendland Galactic’.

Well-bred organic yearling heifers from Maundril Farm Partnership sold to 1000gns for ‘Maundrils Molly 257th’ by ‘Woodmarsh Metalic’ and out of six generations of classified dams.
