2,300GNS TOP AT TEWKESBURY SALE

 

Auctioneers Gwilym Richards & Co report a vibrant trade at the dispersal sale of the Ashmead herd of Holstein Friesians for David and Claire Goddard at Tewkesbury, Gloucestershire.

 

18 cattle sold for over £2,000 with a top price of 2,300gns.

 

West Wales buyers K W Jenkins & Sons of Pembrokeshire, were the buyers of the sale topper a February calved heifer by Pictson Shaker.  The GP83 heifer was giving 36kgs daily and was out of 3 generations of VG cows.

 

Cows sold to 2,200gns for a 3rd calver sired by Overside Dictator.  She was a 3rd generation VG cow that had recorded 9,040kgs during her 2nd lactation.  The buyers were R & N Wedden of Devon.

 

Served heifers sold to 2,000gns to another Pembrokeshire buyer.  The July calving daughter of Libertyview Talented was out of a 10,263kgs EX90 dam.  Her EX90 grandmother by September Storm had achieved 10,808kgs and the great grandmother was classified VG88.  The service sire was the Angus stock bull that later sold for 2,200gns.

 

Libertyview Talented also sired the top price in the maiden heifer section which sold for 1,180gns to a Leicestershire buyer.  She was bred from 5 generations of cows classified in the top two grades.

 

The sale was very well attended with 36 successful purchasers from 15 counties with a third of the cattle destined for new homes in Wales.

47 served heifers    £1,392.03

40 maiden heifers    £842.62

2 Aberdeen Angus bulls   £1,942.50
