Moorshard to 2450gns at SAC Mid-Summer Collective

Taylor Hunts annual Mid-Summer Collective Sale was this year held as part of
the Sedgemoor Auction Centre weekly dairy market and followed 100 commercial
milking cows and heifers through the ring. The day’s top price of 2450gns for a
calved heifer from one of the West Country’s leading herds being “Moorshard
Double Agent Fawn” a freshly calved heifer that had the PI Ex95 “Quietcove
Valiant Fawn” dam in her pedigree. At 2200gns was Dimond Farming Ltd’s calved
heifer “Dorset Twister Fable 2nd” from three generations of VG and an
exceptionally milky family, the “Belle Fable 2nd” from Dorset sold for 2050gns.
LWR & KA Hill continued to disperse their milking herd as they calve with
the calved heifer “Sampfordel Lucius Tina” selling at 2080gns.
Five of the seven bulls forward sold to a top of
1420gns for John Young Farms Ltd “Lanover Ample” by “Million” he was off the
renowned “Ashlyn” family.
Yearling
heifers from Maundrils Farm Partnership’s organic herd sold to 900gns for
daughters of “O-Man End-Story” from their “Wallen” and “Molly” families.
A
well grown commercial yearling heifer from MP & PM Perrett by “Welcome
Altaporter” sold for 810gns. Commercial heifer calves from the same Vendor sold
to 510gns.
Cross
bred yearling heifers averaged £655.66 and cross bred heifer calves sold to £273.00

very busy day for the dairy section with purchasers from across the West and
Wales produced the following averages:
