The Top 10% and Seasonality Sale
at Sedgemoor Auction saw a top price of 3000gns for Westwood Farms’ July
2013-born bull Panda Challanger.
Challenger is the only son in
Europe from the VG88 classified show winning dam Ms Chastity Domain Chaya who
herself is out of Regancrest S Chassity. Spirited bidding ensued with the final
bid over the telephone, from eventual purchasers Jimmy and Andrew Hull of
Lancashire for their Fortland herd.
Leading trade for fresh calved
heifers at 2280gns was Dorset Windbrook Caroline from the South West Herd
Competition 2014 winners Dimond Farming Limited. This December 2011-born
Windbrook heifer is out of a dam by Hidden View Best with three generations of
Excellent dams behind her.
Max Davies had the top priced cow
at 2080gns with the GP83 scored second calver Davlea Melody Lulu 2nd.
As a heifer this Moet Melody daughter gave 10,044kg at
3.53%bf and 2.94%p.
While Lamb Molton Magpie 13th
from RT Cox traded at 2020gns. Sired by the Bolton son Loford Molton he is out
of a Hayden sired dam that scored GP84 as a heifer.
In-calf heifers sold up to
1960gns for Messrs Morris’ Cloverfields Altarush Winkle. This May 2012-born
Willem’s Hoeve Altarush daughter is due in September to the Aberdeen-Angus.
Top price for bulling heifers was
1150gns twice, first was Pitchbury Azure Norma from Winscombe, North Somerset.
This September 2012-born Cogent Azure daughter is out of a dam by Laurelhill
Jurasic.
Then making the same money was
Pitchbury Desmond Bess, the same age as the previous heifer she is by Cogent
Desmond and out of an ABS Neverland sired dam.
