The August Pedigree Dairy Day at Carlisle saw
trade steadier with fewer animals making over £2000 with many correct pedigree
heifers producing over 30kgs being purchased for under £1700.
Trade was up to 2250gns on two occasions,
first to make this was John Bushby’s Hilltop Alexandrern Penny, a August
2011-born Alexander daughter. She is out of the VG88 scored Mr Sam sired dam
Hilltop Sam K Penny and sold giving 28kg to Holehouse Farms, Kilbirnie,
Ayrshire.
Ryemuir Xacobeo Eva 2 from Bryce Sloan was the
joint sale leader selling to Fauld Farm, Longtown, Carlisle. This February-2012
born Xacobeo daughter is out of a VG86 classified Silverpost Sinatra daughter.
Making 2200gns was 10 month old Drointon Magical
SG Amanda, the best of Andrew McKellar’s offering of Drointon Show Stoppers. Sired
by Nethervalley Magical, a Comestar LS Logical son out of Cleevale Charles Mania
she is out of the VG86 classified Syke Goldwyn Amanda who is backed by a
further six generations of dams scored in the top two grades. Craig Cochrane
successfully purchased this heifer for his Maverick herd.
John Bushby was back in the money at 2150gns
with Hilltop Jethro N Lulu, a January 2012-born heifer producing 29kg a day. By
Carhall Jethro, a Shottle son out of Carhall Lyster Elizabeth she is out of an
unclassified Laurin daughter that gave 8694kg at 5.27%bf and 3.31%p. She was
purchased by M and C A Watson, Kirkbride, Wigton.
While at 2120gns was Noel McCaragher’s two
year old heifer Aghavilly Dark Nancy selling to Holehouse Farms. Sired by
Scientific Shot in the Dark she is out of the VG87 scored Aghavilly Razzle Nancy,
by Willsbro Red Razzle.
Just short of that was Monyruy Twist Fantasie
from Colin and Bruce Mair when she sold for 2100gns to Holehouse Farms. This
Cogent Twist daughter is out of a VG88 classified dam by Drake that gave
15,236kg at 3.50%bf and 2.84%p in her second lactation.
