Leading
trade at the Mid-Month Dairy Sale at Beeston Castle was Ventura Jordan Ghost
from Craig Fowler selling at £2600. This Gillette Jordan sired heifer sold
through the Western Holstein Club’s Focus Milk Sale and is out of the VG85
scored Goldenmist Talent Ghost, one of 10 VG or Ex scored dams. She was knocked
down to Mosford Farm Ltd, Malpas, for their Weavermoss herd.
Not far
behind at £2580 was a heifer from O C Whittaker and Sons Ltd, Knutsford. This
homebred heifer Tabley Topshot Morn calved on the 16th of August and was giving
30kg daily when she sold to B G and M A Elkin, Stone who purchased 12 animals
in the sale. Messrs Whittaker also achieved £2300 for another homebred heifer
who was purchased by Messrs J R Thomas of Sarnau, Llanymynech.
Four
heifer from W A and C G Oakes from Byley sold through the Focus Milk section of
the sale from the noted Alcar herd sold to £2400. This was paid for a Ked
Outside Jeeves daughter giving 33kg a day and was purchased by E M
Hughes, Criggion Hall, Shrewsbury who also bought eight animals on the day.
Another of his purchases was a heifer from Grantchester Farms that was knocked
down at £2350, this Bolivia Allen daughter sold giving 34.6kg daily.
The Oakes
family also sold Alcar Clara 55th at £2250 to JL and EM Parker of Haughton
Stafford who also took home a heifer by Woodmarsh Topshot from Hague Partners
at the same price.
Richard, Rosemary
and James Hague consigned another 11 heifers in the sale of which seven made in
excess of £2000.

Mottershead, Whitchurch sold Deedale Imprint 20th at £2200 to Messrs E M Hughes
