4th November Auctioneers Greenslade Taylor Hunt dispersed the “Cloverfields”
herd for Michael and Marilyn Day of Wadebridge, Cornwall at Sedgemoor Auction
Centre. The red and white twin heifers out of “Marcroft Fab Mouse Red VG86” by
“Topspeed Kodak” born 27th July 2013 sold for 1420gns each. Their September
2014 born half-sister by “Delta Maicon” sold for 900gns. Continuing the “Red” theme
were 7 month old twin heifers “Cloverfields Maicon Feline” that sold for
880gns.
In
the cow section an October second calver “Cloverfields Garrett Jenny” out of
the Cornish bred Rolestone Jenny family sold for 2000gns as did the freshly
calved “Cloverfields Zinnia”.
The
follower trade was the strongest seen for several months with buyers from all
over the South West and Wales competing for Incalf heifers by “Peacehay Black
Magic” due November to “Ashlar” selling for 1500gns as did a “Picston Shottle” daughter
due December.
Black
and white yearlings by “Black Magic” out of the “Edwern Blitz Texus VG88” dam
sold to 880gns and a heifer calf out of “Roundhillsfarm Shottle Beth 4th” sold to
560gns.
A
packed ringside despite the falling milk prices generated 41 successful
purchasers who had travelled from Cornwall to Wales and produced the following
averages:
