Quality Cows at the Norman Dispersal at SAC

The dispersal of the “Norman” herd for PA & ME Jack on Tuesday 10th March demonstrated that good quality cattle will always sell as Auctioneers Greenslade Taylor Hunt report an exceptional crowd and trade for 410 head sold through the ring in less than 6 hours. 56 successful purchasers from Cornwall to West Wales and Shropshire produced 15 lots over 2000gns to a top of 2700gns twice for the second calvers “Norman Home Lead VG85” from three generations of VG and “Norman Baltimor Cherrie GP84” out of an Ex90 second dam, both travelling back to West Wales.

The incalf heifer trade was the strongest on the day selling to 1720gns for “Norman Lavanguard Binette” due April to sexed semen to another successful West Wales purchaser. Heifers due in the summer sold to 1580gns for daughters of “Comestar Lavanguard” and out of three generations of VG dams.

16 month old bulling heifers sold to 1120gns for “Norman Lauthority Blackie” out of an Ex90 dam.  Yearling heifers by “Gen-I-Beq Brawler” sold to 920gns from the “Disney” family and “A” lot heifer calves to 620gns for “Norman Seaver Disney” purchased by a Carmarthen buyer, showing that the youngstock trade maintained levels seen in 2014.

The day brought to an end 30 years of breeding for the team at Normandy Farm whose attention to detail was rewarded when the herd was removed from Blandford, Dorset to Sedgemoor Auction centre to produce the following excellent averages:

203 Dairy Cows and Heifers (Inc. A Lots) £1603.00
