Top price at the dispersal sale of the entire milking portion of the Chesterton herd of Holstein Friesians for Peter, Nicholas and Edward Jenner at Ewen, Cirencester, Gloucestershire was 2,200gns.

The headliner was a freshly calved heifer sired by Bassingthorpe Drayman out of a 10,793kgs dam.  The purchasers were G J & F L Robertson of Wotton-under-Edge, Gloucestershire 

Leading the cow section was the 2,000 guineas paid by B J Mould of Dunstone, Stafford, for a Eastview Sentry sired 2nd calver giving 50.8kgs daily and out of a 12,239kgs dam.

In-calf heifers sold to 1,600 guineas for an August calver sired by Bassingthorpe Drayman and of a 8,604kgs dam by Bomaz Homestead.  The purchaser was P J Watkins & Son of Abergavenny, Monmouthshire.

The sale was very well attended with buyers from Devon, Dorset, Shropshire, Pembrokeshire and the surrounding counties.

Auctioneer Gwilym Richards remarked after the sale that the trade had been very good considering the lowering milk prices and that this was a loose housed herd.
