Holstein UK held their annual open day on Saturday for the winners of last year’s Premier Pedigree Herd Competition, Messrs E.R & M.E.Jones & Sons’ Feithy herd, at Kidwelly, Carmarthenshire. Some 500 people attended, mostly from South Wales, and this wonderful prizewinning herd was much admired.

 

Some of the herd’s best animals were offered with a price tag attached, and the top price was £5,000 for the second calver Feithy Rachel Atwood ET (VG-88), that was Champion Heifer in the South Wales Herd Competition last year. Buyers were R.D.H & M.Bowen and she joins their Lan herd at Idole, Carmarthen. The Lilac family is one of the oldest, most numerous and best families in the herd and HUK President Randolph Miller and his son Brian gave £3,500 for a very smart calf by Wabash-Way Explode out of an Excellent-94 pointed Goldwyn cow, whose dam had scored 93 points.
