Auctioneers Greenslade Taylor Hunt report a strong milk trade for their Annual Michaelmas Collective Sale at Sedgemoor Auction Centre on Tuesday 15th September. The August calved heifer “Beneknowle Twist Joy 97th” out of a VG85 dam and giving 37.7 kgs sold for 1900gns for PJ Andrews who sold other heifers for 1820gns and 1800gns.

 

RT Cox sold “Lamb Loydie Meg” that was freshly calved for 1820gns and David and Valerie Norman’s “Ciderhouse Solution Candy” by their homebred bull sold for 1800gns with her four week old heifer calf by “Ciderhouse Pegasus” selling for 360gns. Other heifers to 1800gns were from AJ & WL Turner “Chardit” and RE & HE Bugler & Partners “Bettiscombe”. 

 

Fewer cows forward sold to 1680gns for the second lactation “Tammy” and 1600gns for the VG85 “Gina” both from David and Valerie Norman’s “Ciderhouse” herd. Holstein bulls sold to 1380gns for RG & SR Farms “Hollysprings Tanalaxy ET” a grandson of “Shottle” and to 1300gns for “Ciderhouse Style ET from DJ & VM Norman.

 

The youngstock dispersal for TJ & CM Dauncey of Cornwall saw November 2014 heifers sell to 1350gns for “Leswidden CFD Christmas” from eight generations of Ex and VG dams. Incalf heifers due February to “Cogent Supershot” sold for 1350gns for “Leswidden Wyman Gail”. Four week old heifer calves by “Guthi Jeeves Airgon” sold to 460gns for “Leswidden Airgon Trolley”.

 

The final sale of youngstock for B Rose & Son saw the incalf heifer “Stourvale Seaver Teasel” due October sell for 1420gns and commercial heifers due the same time to 1300gns. 

 

The very last “Sampfordel” heifers to be sold for LWR & KA Hill sold to 880gns on four occasions for bulling heifers by “Cattrona Hotshot”, “Sandy-Valley Clue” and “O-Bee Krown”. 

 

Commercial New Zealand and crossbred heifers incalf and due next spring to the Aberdeen Angus sold to 700gns for daughters of “Uptons Magic Upgrade” and “Gordons PF Millennium” for GB Holmes Limited Partnership.
