Auctioneers Greenslade Taylor Hunt report an excellent attendance at Sedgemoor Auction Centre on Tuesday 22nd September for the short notice sale on behalf of RS Hill & Sons (The West Tisted Manor Estate). The decision to cease milk production at the Home Farm Dairy brought all the dairy equipment and cattle to the market in under 20 days.

 

The Sale commenced with the dairy equipment which was lotted on the Farm and sold from the rostrum. Highlights included the 2011 20:20 Fullwood Direct to Line Parlour at £17,000, 2005 Fullwood Bulk Milk Tank and Ice Bank at £7,200 and Precast Concrete Cubicles at £160 each.

 

Dairy cows sold to 2000gns for the commercial July calved heifer giving 32kgs and served. At 1850gns was another commercial June calved heifer giving 30.8kgs. 2nd calvers giving 43kgs having calved in August sold for 1750gns as did the 2nd lactation Swedish Red x heifer by Arbelunda.

 

Incalf heifers due December sold to 1400gns for ‘Hillmonarch Ireland Janet’ and ‘Hillmonarch Hadley Sadie’. 14 month old maiden heifers topped at 860gns for daughters of ‘Pello’ and ‘Ingerious’ with yearlings at 720gns for ‘Hillmonarch Ponder Missy’.
