The “Kingsfoll” dispersal at Sedgemoor Auction Centre on Tuesday 5th April produced a marked improvement in demand for quality cows on offer. The 10,850 kg herd drew potential purchasers from across the West to top at 1850gns for a September calved second lactation cow “Kingsfoll Kath” giving 45 kg by “Regancrest Altaiota” purchased by the Bristol family of Yarcombe. At 1820gns was the December calved heifer “Kingsfoll Michelob Bell” who joins the “Brinkmarsh” herd of the Robertson’s. In-calf heifers due from May to July at under 2 years of age by “De-Su Alta” sold to 1350gns and was part of the best in-calf heifer trade seen this year. The 350 head were sold in 5 hours to 42 different purchasers with many others leaving empty handed. What was noticeable was the improved trade which lasted throughout the 320 milkers sold, largely due to the lack of dispersal sales in the West Country. Vendor Chris Simmon’s attention to detail resulting in an impressive herd of 346 cows averaging £1,086.00.
