<<< Back to Sale Reports

1500gns was the top price at the dispersal sale of the Dymock herd of Holstein Friesian dairy cattle for Nick and Cathy Sprackling at Dingestow, near Monmouth. The sale topper was a 2nd calver which had calved on New Year’s Day. The daughter of Hydaways Goldmine had recorded 8,010kgs as a heifer. 1,450gns was achieved for the freshly calved 2nd calver daughter of Ballycairn Tiergan. Those cattle calving in the Summer and Autumn were in strong demand with 1400gns being paid for a Jeeves heifer that had calved in early September last year and due with her 2nd calf in late August. 1,380gns was also paid for a Shottle sired 2nd calver which was calving for the 3rd time in early August. Auctioneer Gwilym Richards reported that “trade was very consistent with no real highs or lows with stale milkers selling as well as the fresh ones as producers are changing calving patterns to survive in the current challenging times”. The following averages were achieved with buyers attending from across South Wales from Pembrokeshire and over the Severn Bridge to Wiltshire. Milking cows and heifers (with no calves): £958. Served heifers: £729. Maiden heifers and calves: £347. Auctioneers: GWILYM RICHARDS & CO
