Auctioneers Greenslade Taylor Hunt report an improved trade for good quality milkers at their Annual Spring Fever Sale at Sedgemoor Auction Centre (Junction 24, M5) on Tuesday 19th April. The collective fresh milk topped at 1760gns for GC Langdon’s calved heifer “Salterton Kendall Bunty” who was 3 weeks calved and giving 38kgs. She sold to a buyer from Gloucestershire. At 1750gns was “Kingtonmagna Affirmed Flora 36th” consigned by RJ Goss & Son. In the freshly calved cow section Roland and Simon Bugler topped at 1670gns for the second calver “Bettiscombe Palermo Stephanie 165th”. Incalf heifers due in May sold to 1150gns for RF Tucker, 10 month old heifer calves from N, R & D Norris’s “Sandyhill” herd sold to 520gns x 2. The continued dispersal sale of the renowned “Stowey” herd produced bids for 1150gns for the 12 month old “Stowey Hunger Ghost” and 1000gns for the 8 month old “Stowey Envious Marie”. With strong local and Welsh support the following averages were achieved; Collective Sale: Calved Cows, £1342.00; Calved Heifers, £1474.00; In-calf Heifers, £1061.55; Heifer Calves, £ 487.00.
