Wednesday 27th April 2016

The dispersal of the Midbishopton Holstein herd took place at Borderway, Carlisle on Wednesday 27th April in front of a packed ringside of friends and neighbours.  The herd was owned by the Forsyth family from Mid Bishopton Farm situated close to the town of Whithorn in the South west of Scotland.  The herd was established following FMD with a nucleus from the Merryton herd in Larkhall.  Since then James Forsyth has developed the herd into a fine group of highly productive top type cows something he should be very proud of with no less than 14 Excellent, 49 Very Goods and 48 Good Plus animals featured in the sale.

Topping the trade at 1,620gns was a daughter of Pirolo Solemio calved in January and bred back to Vieuxsaule Flame.  She was purchased by Mr Green from Hulse Heath Farm.

The high type was a major feature throughout the sale with Midbishopton windbrook Blossom selling for 1,500gns to MC Robinson & Son West Cocklaw, Hexham.  Blossom had recently classified Very Good and was the fourth generation of Very Good cows being bred of a Very Good 88 Startmore Rudolph.

The Barbara cow family was a strong feature in the sale, Midbishopton Manifold Barbara 3 sold for 1,480gns to Mr Green from Hulse Heath Farm.  She was due with her fourth calve in August to Relough Manta and had classified Excellent during her third lactation.  She was bred of an Excellent Royalne Jordan with impressive production.

Another member of the Barbara cow family to feature in the leading prices was Midbishopton Talent Barbara 2 selling for 1,420gns to S Forshaw & Sons, Bolton Fold Farm.  This super uddered daughter of Ladino Park Talent had calved back in February in her third and was giving 36kgs and had recently classified Very Good 87.
