Messrs Leggott took the bold decision to move their 275 strong Bonvillepark herd from Northallerton to Cirencester Market for their sale on 20th June and the decision looks to have been a good one with prices up to 1,850 guineas and buyers from as far afield as Kent, Yorkshire, Staffordshire and North Wales.

Buyers were very clear what they wanted with anything calved six months and not back in calf or carrying any udder defects being sold at reduced prices. However there were plenty of cows full of milk or due in the next four months that sold readily to the 32 buyers present.

Topping the sale was one of the last milking heifers through the ring, fetching 1,850 guineas to Mr Peter Turner from Bradford-on-Avon, who purchased 17 head at the sale. Bonvillepark Guarini Ursula 3 was three weeks fresh giving 40kg. Another member of the Ursula family fetched 1,800 guineas to Jane Goddard from Great Chart, Ashford in Kent who was one of the major buyers on the day. Jane also claiming Bonvillepark Unique Care, that gave over 11,000kg as a heifer at 1,800 guineas and was one of several particularly good cattle by the home bred Roylane Jordan son Bonvillepark Unique.

Served heifers peaked at 1,080 guineas for one of the Beattie family, tracing back to Verona. She was by Hydaways Goldmine and sold due in September to a Goldmine son.
