Auctioneers Greenslade Taylor Hunt report a continued improved demand for fresh and autumn milk at Sedgemoor Auction Centre on Tuesday 5th July 2016 for the dispersal of the Minal herd, removed from Marlborough, Wiltshire for convenience of sale.

The sale topped at 1,400gns twice for Minal Bossman Caroline due to her second in August and purchased by P W G & S Wilson of Worcestershire and Minal Mass Elegance who had calved to her first in April purchased by R J Shere of Cullompton, Devon. Freshly calved heifers sold to 1,380gns for Minal Jordan Helen. The trade was very bright for January and February calvers confirmed back in-calf.

Served heifers sold to 1,080gns x two for daughters of Seaver and Trigger due in September. Off lying heifers sold to 920gns for Minal Pello Baby. The trade of the day, and probably the dearest of the year, was for six – nine-month old heifers that sold to 590gns twice for Musketeer heifers and averaged £550.00.

Despite the short window of good silaging and hay making weather, which would of kept some away, 39 different purchasers were successful.
