Fresh milk sold to a steady and consistent trade at the dispersal sale of the entire milking portion of the Wings herd of Holstein Friesians for Mike Duckworth at Granborough, near Winslow, Buckinghamshire with a top price of 1,550gns recorded twice.
The first to make 1,550gns was a freshly calved heifer by Picston Shottle purchased by P & A E Roff & Son of Leighton Buzzard, Bedfordshire.
Next at 1,550gns was a second calver which had given 10,100kgs as a heifer. This freshly calved Goldenboy daughter was also bought by P & A C Roff & Son.
Despite the small improvement in milk prices, buyers were cautious and not prepared to bid over 1,500gns with many making between 1,200gns and 1,500gns.
A small group of in-calf heifers sold to a top price of 1,050gns being purchased by North Wales buyers N M Roberts & Partners.
