Auctioneers: Richard Turner & Son
Gisburn Auction calf and dairy sales are the envy of the northwest, consistently
attracting both numbers and quality of both animals and people from miles around.
The Dugdale Dairy Show and sale saw 72 in the ring with a wonderful red
and white heifer from T & C Robinson bred by M Gornall top the sale at £2,060. She
was by Holmland Saturn Red giving 32 litres. Next in line was regular pedigree
vendor G Donkin selling at £1,740 to David Walmsley. Milkers were generally a
straight trade with smaller Friesian types enjoying the best of the trade. The in-calf
trade was very strong. A run of 16 (averaging £1,264) smart and well grown heifers
from Middletons of Wigton were quick to sell making up to £1490 to J G Marshall and
£1440 to Hill & Davies, Wrexham.
