A packed ringside at Greenslade Taylor Hunt’s Annual Top 10% sale at Sedgemoor Auction Centre witnessed the best trade of the year across the board for the 400 head on offer. 

 

Topping the fresh milk section at 2,150gns was Beneknowle Rampager Amy 54 from five generations of homebred high yielding VG and EX dams for P J Andrews of Plymouth. Close behind at 2,100gns was the unclassified calved heifer Janke Alta Embassy Connie from Keith and Jane Hulbert of Honiton who sold 17 homebred cows and heifers to average an impressive £1,626.00. Other cows sold to 1,880gns for D C Dennis & Son and 1,800gns for R & M Parker with other calved heifers at 1,850gns for R T Cox, 1,800gns for P J Andrews and 1,750gns for D E Pyle of Exeter. 

 

In-calf heifers from P J Searle & Son sold to 1,440gns for Baltimore daughters. Bulling heifers sold to 920gns for R & M Parker’s Grangemore Artist Grey by Riverdane Artist Red from five generations of VG and EX dams with a PLI of £219.

Yearling heifers to complete the dispersal of Robin and Michelle Harding’s Westel herd sold to 1,050gns for Westel McCormick Bet 28, a daughter of the VG86 Bet that sold for 3,000gns earlier in the year.

 

June born heifer calves sold to 650gns for R & M Parker’s Grangemore Mogul Brenda with a PLI of £199. She was out of the VG88 dam that sold before her for 1,800gns giving a total of 2,450gns for dam and daughter. 

 

A consignment of 60 heifer calves for J F Cobb & Sons topped at 520gns to average an impressive £468.00. 

 

Five bulls sold to a top of 2,200gns for D W & C E Jones Wiltor Chester who had the top PLI in the sale of £434.

 

In excess of 60 purchasers from Cornwall to Carmarthen generated the best trade of the year to date.
